Movie magazine proposal

ALFILMS

Objective
ALFILMS' main objective is to promote up and coming low budget independent films as well as educating the public on budget film production. It aims to make the public think more deeply about film and all the effort that goes into the creation of it.

Concept
ALFILMS is a concept for a new film magazine which will aim to showcase up and coming indie films. It will include articles and guides about the latest budget films in London. The magazine will be distributed by vendors around Central London, particularly around alternative areas such as Camden Town and SoHo.

Font styles 
The font style of the title will be 'Astigma' as seen below. It will use colours such as dark greens and browns in order to catch the consumers eye as well as portraying a dark, sophisticated themes along with a underlying air of 'grunge' as to appeal to the alternative younger portion of the target audience. However it  will also be clear, concise and readable as to instantly let the consumer know what the magazine is about as will as not drawing too much attention away from other key aspects in the magazine.

The font of specific article titles will be 'Lemon milk' as it is a clear striking font with a futuristic touch, portraying how the magazine is presenting new films. Font is as shown below.

The font of the actual articles will be 'Futura' as it is bold and distinctive whilst being legible. Font is as shown below.

Layout convention
Overall the layout will be aesthetically pleasing including lots of photographs all of which staying within the dark, grunge theme the magazine aims to portray.

  4. Updates on production of films looked upon in the last issue of magazine
  5. Double page spread on an interview with a member of cast in an up and coming or recently released film

  9. 'Top 10' double page of up and coming actors and directors

  11. Advertisements that will relate to the film industry e.g. advertising a camera. 
  12. Brief summary of what will be in the next edition of the magazine e.g. what actors are being interviewed.

Images
Images will be high quality but sticking within the dark, sophisticated theme of the magazine with a hint of grunge and edge. They will include candid shots as to not make the magazine look staged, fake or tacky. The candids will be of actors and crew members on set. The magazine will also include photographs of props and scenery used in recently releases or up and coming films, these behind the scenes photos will be included in order to educate the reader on preproduction.

Target audience
With our target audience being 18-35 year olds. It is important to consider financial situations as the younger proportion of the the target audience will most likely not have a large amount of disposable income. The magazine will mostly appeal to those who enjoy watching films and are interested in finding out more about how their favourite films are made.
