Fonts, typefases and graphic features

The two different types of font:

  • Serif fonts eg Times
Serif fonts have additional 'decoration' added.
  • Sans serif fonts e.g. Ariel
Sans serif fonts are without anything extra added (e.g. flicks or points on the letters). 

  • Font familydifferent font families have different connotations of writing the same front. 
Ariel; Friendly, clear, informality, rounded letters, casual, fresh, modern, contemporary.
Times; Professional, sophisticated, academia, serious, gravitas, mature, history, reputation, believable.




Typeface; Bold, italic, underlined, CAPITALS, strikethrough 

Typefaces and fonts are often used to stylise magazine as each option (e.g. underlined or in capital letters), may provide a different feel to magazine. 


Graphic features; Puffs/pugs, bars of colour, ribbons, stars, shapes, dots, lines 
These all draw the readers eyes to specific and key points of information
